Dorms Empty...

Last Friday was moving day as parents came in droves to help their almost grown children move out of the dorms here at the school and head home for the summer. Now you would think that the students could handle a move on their own, but you have to take into account all the "stuff" they acquired during the year amounts to more than one car (I really don't have room to talk...we helped our daughter move to Georgia because she did not have a hitch on her car, it took 2 cars and a trailer to get her there). Load after load of clothes, bedding, refrigerators, appliances, rolling drawers, suitcases and boxes of food were removed from the dorms and packed into cars.

Dave picked me up for lunch. I had to make a stop the admin building to drop off some papers. On the way there we stopped at the stop sign across from the dorms. There standing in the street behind his son/daughters car was a somewhat balding man, slightly overweight, in his Bermuda shorts, black socks and tennis shoes, yes he did have a shirt on, shoving on a suitcase in the back of the SUV situated under a pile of already loaded belongings. The suitcase would not budge and he couldn't get the door closed. He stepped back, looked at the back end of the overstuffed car...looked down to the ground to see what he still needed to put into the car(at least 8 more bags)...looked back at the car, looked back at the stuff and put his hands on his hips and shook his head. It was one of the funniest sights I have ever seen. I wish I had my camera, by golly, I did on my phone, I could have gotten a video clip of it, but I didn't.

Oh the joys of moving back home.

Happy trails....
